COUNTY INTERMEDIATE CLUB SHIELD FINAL: Glenflesk Senior team play Finuge in the Moss Keane Memorial Trophy County Intermediate Shield Final on Saturday the 26th November at 1pm. Venue to be decided.
MINOR EAST KERRY LEAGUE: Glenflesk Minor team ran out convincing winners against Rathmore after a great team performance in the East Kerry League on Saturday the 19th November.
UNDER 14 EAST KERRY B FINAL: Our U/14 team travelled to Farranfore where they were up against Firies in the final of the East Kerry B competition. Firies got off to a good start scoring an early goal but 2 goals from Glenflesk before half time had the sides level. Firies started well in the second half, a couple of fortunate goals gave them a comfortable lead with Glenflesk hitting the cross bar and unlucky not to get a few more scores against a strong wind. This was the third final of the year for this group of players having already defeated Firies in the East Kerry League Final. The trainers would like to thank all players for their effort during the year and wish them the best of luck for the coming years.

SCÓR NA NÓG: The County Semi Final of Scór na nÓg was held in Keel Community Centre on Friday. Congratulations and well done to all our competitors and thanks to all who helped to train and prepare the various groups. COFFEE MORNING: Bernie and Freddie Bartlett and their Family would like to thank everyone who came and supported her recent Coffee Morning in Aid of the Oncology Dept Tralee General Hospital and The Haven Tralee. You kind support to date has helped to raise €1,520 for two very worthy causes. TAE KWAN DO CONGRATULATIONS: Congratulations to Joshua O’Sullivan, Barraduff National School, who won a Gold Medal at the Tae Kwan Do National Irish Championships in Cork on Sunday the 20th November.
EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS BELL VISITS GLENFLESK PARISH: The Eucharistic Congress Bell will visit Barraduff Church on Saturday, 26th November 2011, at 3pm, for a prayer service. This bell is being brought to every Catholic Church in Ireland in preparation for next year’s Eucharistic Congress in Dublin. After visiting Barraduff church, the bell will move on to Rathmore and Kilcummin, before it returns to the Parish and visits Glenflesk Church at 1pm on Monday the 28th November 2011. After a prayer service in Glenflesk the Bell will travel on to arrive at Clonkeen church at 2pm. On leaving the Parish it will move on to neighbouring Kilgarvan.
CRAFT FAIR: Murphys Bar, Barradubh, Thursday 1st December 2011 from 4-9pm. All locally made crafts. Wine and finger foods. Raffle in aid of St. Josephs Day Care Centre, Rathmore.

Cookery Demonstration: To kick off the Christmas season the Spa GAA Social Activities committee will host a cookery demonstration by Top Chefs Odran Lucey (Killarney Park) and John O’Leary, The Malton in the Spa Clubhouse on Wednesday December 7th 8pm.Hot drinks will be served on arrival and there will be some wonderful prizes to be raffled during the evening including the cooked festive treats. You will also in with a chance to win a special prize of a dinner for you and 7 friends in the comfort of your own home.

Community alert Christmas Party a Huge Success CHRISTMAS PARTY ORGANISED BY THE LISSIVIGEEN BRANCH OF COMMUNITY ALERT: This attracted a large attendance to Darby O’Gill’s on Friday night and proved to be a most enjoyable occasion. Special guest on the night was 99 year old Jackie O’Sullivan Farmer who hopes to celebrate his 100th birthday with a cheque from the recently elected President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins on next Holy Thursday. Displaying an intellect to match a man half of his years the affable Jackie recalled the many milestones in his long life including his schooldays in Lissivigeen NS in the 1920’s. After receiving a special presentation from Fr McNamara and Christy Lehane on bahalf of the local community Jackie went on to spin off a number of his special recitations. Overall a most enjoyable occasion and Christy Lehane and his organising committee can take a bow for the manner in which they organised the event. A special thank you to all who donate raffle prizes. MC Batt O’Sullivan and musician Ger Healy kept the dancers tapping all night.

Relegation Play off: Fossa face Beale in a Division 4County League relegation play off at Strand Road pitch on Sunday next throw in 2pm. We would like a big support for our team so we encourage all parishioners to come along and cheer on our team.
Scor: Well done to all those who took part in Scór na nÓg East Kerry Finals which were held in Fossa Community Centre Saturday November 12th. A large crowd attended the event and spectators were well entertained for the evening, the standard of competition was very high in all categories. Congratulations to Katrina Cronin who came second in the Solo Singing category, she was accompanied by her brother Thomas on guitar giving a beautiful rendition of 'Carrickfergus'. The Ballad Group of Ronan O'Shea, Olivia O'Donoghue, Katie Talbot, Chloé Dennehy and Aoife Buckley finished in third place. A huge thanks to Paul O'Raw and Mary Francis O'Shea for preparing them. Our Instrumental group made up of Sean Kelliher, Cian O'Sullivan, John Murphy, Dean O'Sullivan and Christy Buckley gave a great performance even though they weren't in the medals. Many thanks to Padraig Buckley for preparing them for the day. Our Quiz team of Annie Sheehan, Ronan O'Shea and Molly O'Mahony represented their parish well finishing in fourth place. Thanks to Gene Moriarty and Theresa Kissane for their help with the Quiz. Finally thanks to all who helped out with stewarding, to the ladies in the shop who worked hard for the after-noon and to Fossa Community Centre and members of Fossa GAA for preparing the hall for the event. East Kerry Scor Sinsear will take place in late January. Anybody 17 years or older are eligible. Scorn na bPaisti for children attending national school will take place in March. Fossa GAA Club Get Together: Our Christmas “Night Out” takes place at the Old Killarney Inn on Friday night December 2nd at 8:30pm. An open invitation to all adults, parents of our juvenile players, former greats, scor participants, senior, junior and minor players, helpers, and mentors, to come along for the “ceol, caint agus craic”. Admission free.
FILM AWARD: Fossa National School was honoured in the 2011 National FÍS Film Festival for its five-minute film. Fourth and fifth class pupils in Fossa won in the "Depicting History in Film" category for "Oisin and Niamh in Tír na nÓg"; their school crest depicts the story of Tír na nÓg. President Michael D Higgins presented the awards at a ceremony in the Helix, Dublin on Wednesday. Congratulations to all involved.

25TH RATHMORE PANTO: The Marion Players, Rathmore launched their annual 25th pantomime ‘Cinderella’ on Friday night last in Teach Iosagain. Minister Jimmy Deenihan TD was joined by other public representatives including Tom Fleming TD, Michael Healy Rae TD, Aine Collins TD, Senator Tom Sheehan, Danny Healy Rae MCC, John Sheehan MCC, Noel Buckley MCC, Tony Darmody, CEO of Kerry Parents Friends Association, Maura Walsh I.R.D. Dullahow and the cast and committee members of pantos past and present. The people gathered were entertained by Rathmore/Gneeveguilla Community Games Choir with their instructor Joanna Hughes and the Glenflesk Comhaltas group. The panto starts it’s run in the Community Centre Rathmore on Saturday 28th January at 8:30pm followed with a Sunday Mattine on the 29th and runs on Wednesday 1st, Thursday 2nd at 8:00pm and Saturday 4th 8.30pm with a final matine on Sunday 5th February. SLIABH LUACHRA COMHALTAS: Congratulations to all our members who competed in the various competitions held in the IT Tralee and Currow Parish Hall on 12th & 13th November. This was an open competition and the standard was very high. It is a great achievement to have qualifiers in the U/13 English Singing and the U/13 4-Hand and Hand Ceili Dancing going forward to Munster Ceol an Gheimhridh which takes place early in the new year.
